Meet the Founders Building Momentum with StartClub_BNE

Building a startup is full of momentum moments. The first customer. The first pivot. The first big win. But momentum isn’t built alone. It’s created through the conversations, connections and support that help founders move forward with confidence.

Over the coming months, 9 startups’ founders will work alongside experienced mentors, industry experts and a community of ambitious entrepreneurs, gaining practical insights, testing ideas and building the momentum needed to take their ventures to the next stage.

From health and education to construction, travel and AI-powered technology, this cohort reflects the diversity and ambition of Queensland’s startup ecosystem, with founders solving real-world problems across a range of industries.

Phymes

Founded by Tawseef Lone and Hafiz Khawar Abdul Rehman, Phymes is building a modular digital platform that improves coordination across disability and aged care. By helping participants, carers and providers connect without losing critical context, Phymes is reducing friction and improving access to care, particularly for regional and remote communities across Australia.

Teacher Me

Built by former school leader April Bow, Teacher Me is an Australian education technology marketplace connecting families with registered teachers for flexible, on-demand learning support. The platform makes personalised education more accessible while creating new opportunities for teachers to share their expertise beyond the classroom.

Kartable

James Collins founded Kartable to simplify procurement for the construction industry. By streamlining sourcing between trades and multiple suppliers, the platform removes unnecessary costs, complexity and delays from source to site.

Archi UpSkill

Archi UpSkill, founded by Meghana Reddi Bodireddigari, is helping Australian architecture practices better support graduate architects. Combining practical onboarding with workflow tools, the platform improves productivity while protecting valuable senior billable hours.

Tia.Coach

Tia.Coach delivers personalised one-to-one tutoring that adapts to how each student learns. Covering Maths, English and Science across multiple international curriculums, Tia.Coach combines adaptive technology with real-time progress tracking to make quality tutoring more accessible for families.

ToadOps

Husband and wife duo are bringing automation to pest management through ToadOps. Their first product, ToadTurret, uses AI, computer vision and automated spraying technology to detect and control cane toads at night, offering a low-maintenance solution for Australian homes and properties.

Vubli

Founded by Gideon Shalwick, Vubli is making video creation easier for founders, creators and experts. The mobile platform simplifies recording, editing, captioning and publishing, helping users consistently create engaging content across multiple channels.

Daily.

Daily., founded by Liam Christian, is rethinking household services by beginning with subscription-based pickup and delivery laundry. With a long-term vision of becoming the operating system for the modern home, Daily. is building smarter ways for households to automate everyday tasks and reclaim valuable time.

Ground Crew Travel

Founded by Tabitha Thomas and Uzma Arjuman, Ground Crew Travel combines AI-powered trip planning with verified local experts, creating travel experiences that balance the speed of artificial intelligence with the trust and insight that only local knowledge can provide.

Every founder starts somewhere, but lasting progress comes from having the right people around you.

StartClub_BNE exists to help founders build that momentum through practical learning, expert guidance and a supportive community that understands the realities of building a startup. Throughout the program, this cohort will refine their ideas, challenge assumptions, grow their networks and take meaningful steps towards building scalable businesses.

We’re excited to welcome Cohort 6 to the StartClub_BNE community and can’t wait to see where their momentum takes them.

Introducing StartClub_BNE Cohort 4: Queensland’s Boldest Founders Step Into the Spotlight

Introducing StartClub_BNE Cohort 4: Queensland’s Boldest Founders Step Into the Spotlight

Brisbane’s innovation ecosystem is buzzing once again as StartClub_BNE proudly welcomes its fourth cohort of visionary founders. Hosted at The Precinct, this 12-week pre-accelerator program remains Queensland’s go-to launchpad for early-stage startups that are ready to validate, build and grow.

Following the success of the first three cohorts – which have supported over 30 emerging startups – Cohort 4 brings together a dynamic and diverse group of entrepreneurs tackling real-world problems with innovative, tech-driven solutions.

Program Manager Holly Hudson highlights the importance of the program for early-stage startups, “StartClub_BNE isn’t just a program – it’s a community built to nurture ideas and founders. By connecting early-stage startups with mentorship, education, and exposure, the program plays a vital role in fuelling Queensland’s innovation economy and positioning Brisbane as a national startup powerhouse.”

This cohort features innovators from across multiple industries including climate-tech, health, education, prop-tech, construction, personal safety and data, and more:

  • Denish and Meghna Capatwala, co-founders of Carbonly.ai: an AI system that eliminates the manual workload of sustainability reporting by automating emissions, ESG, and environmental data entry, so businesses can focus on impact, not admin.

  • Cassie Crofts, founder of Date Dirt: the ultimate sidekick for women – catching red flags before feelings develop, helping users stay safe, skip the wrong matches and find love with confidence.
  • Lachlan Tran and Jethro Yang, co-founders of Zylo: your personal organisational AI tool built for the procrastinating ADHD mind, turning overwhelming tasks into manageable, rewarding goals, incorporating physical and cognitive exercises throughout your day to stay focused, feel accomplished and never leave deadlines to the last minute again.
  • Aleks Jankovic, founder of Vivo.AI: an AI-powered stakeholder engagement platform built for infrastructure and government projects that automates reporting, delivers predictive insights, and helps project teams reduce risk and build community trust at scale.
  • James Grundy, founder of LocalVendor: a B2B SaaS platform that connects principal contractors with qualified local subcontractors – streamlining tendering, compliance and procurement to boost efficiency and local economic participation.
  • Ravi Velampally, founder of HBN-tech: a smart property marketplace platform connecting home buyers with verified mortgage brokers and real estate professionals. Simplifying the property journey with speed and trust.
  • Adi Khanna and Emad Hassan, co-founders of Lysto: Lysto empowers homeowners to sell their homes without an agent. Using AI, intuitive tools and a built-in services marketplace to simplify and demystify the sales process.
  • Brendan O’Connor, founder of Teaching Toolkit: an all-in-one, AI-powered platform created to tackle classroom admin. Inspired by real teacher pain points, it helps educators save time, stay organised and focus on what matters most; teaching.

Over 12 weeks, Cohort 4 founders will refine their business models, sharpen their pitches and build momentum – all culminating in Pitch Night 4.0, where they’ll present to a room full of founders, investors, stakeholders and the broader startup community.

In just 12 months, StartClub_BNE – the flagship Pre-accelerator Program delivered at The Precinct – has become a cornerstone of early-stage startup support in Queensland.

Backed by the Queensland Government, StartClub was built to support idea-stage founders as they validate their business models, test product-market fit, and build confidence as future startup leaders.

Since launching in 2024, the program has supported more than 30 early-stage startups, with many now scaling and securing external funding, grants, and placements in highly-competitive accelerators.

Among the standout success stories is StartClub alumni Gloss Guide, led by Courtney Clemence (Founder & CEO) and Ash Hoey (Co-Founder & CTO) who have been recently accepted into Startmate and Tech Ready Women Academy.

Courtney draws on her firsthand experience in the beauty industry, having worked as both a lash technician and fashion manager, to connect with and grow a thriving community of over 1,200 beauty professionals. Her deep industry insight, paired with Ash’s track record as a seasoned tech founder with an ASX-listed exit, makes for a powerful founding duo.

With complementary strengths in community building and technical execution, they’re on a mission to reshape the beauty services space through a scalable digital platform built for impact.

Other standout alumni include:

  • Voulla Fronis (Cohort 1), accepted into the UQ Ventures Momentum program
  • Andrej Maletic (Cohort 1), awarded an Advance Queensland Ignite Ideas grant and now part of the Ignite+ program
  • Jesse Costelloe (Cohort 2), selected for the UQ Ventures iLab
  • Inventico (Cohort 1),  selected for the current UQ Ventures iLab

A key ingredient in StartClub’s success is its exceptional network of mentors, which includes some of Brisbane’s most successful founders, experienced business leaders, and dedicated ecosystem supporters. Their ongoing support has been critical in helping participants sharpen their ideas, validate with customers, and gain the confidence to pitch for growth. This spirit of collaboration is a longstanding hallmark of Brisbane’s innovation community, and one that StartClub continues to foster.

Program Manager Holly Hudson has seen firsthand how quickly founders can go from idea to investment-ready when given the right guidance, connections and community.

“The results speak for themselves. With over 100 applications in just the first year, StartClub is clearly meeting a growing demand for hands-on, early-stage startup support,”

“Many of our participants come to us with no prior startup experience, and within a few short months, they’re launching a product, validating in market, pitching to investors and getting accepted into follow-on accelerator programs. It’s a real privilege to be part of their journey.”

StartClub Brisbane will continue to back founders who are brave enough to start, build, and test new ideas, and The Precinct remains committed to delivering high-impact programs that catalyse Queensland’s innovation economy.

Applications for Cohort 4 are now open. If you’re an early-stage founder that wants to find peers on a similar journey, learn from the best in Brisbane, and validate your startup idea to test in market, apply now.
